Visualizing Occupation: Divide and Conquer

Despite sharing a national identity, the Palestinian people are parceled into differential categories along geographical, socioeconomic, humanitarian, political and civilian lines determined by Israel: Palestinians holding Israeli citizenship, residents of East Jerusalem, those living in the West Bank, those in the Gaza Strip, and the refugees.  In this seventh illustration in a series of infographics on Palestinian civilian life under occupation, see the divisions that dictate Palestinian existence.

  The Palestinian Authority is thwarting the activities of a real estate company after its owner publicly criticized Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas. Seven weeks ago, the Palestinian Land Authority suspended the processing of a project for registering and parceling private land purchased by the Palestinian-Canadian Sabawi family. The family is the majority owner of a real estate company listed in the Palestinian stock exchange, but over 1,500 also holds stocks in the company.  Through an unofficial channel, the company learned that the director of the Palestinian Land Authority was acting in accordance with direct orders from Abbas’ presidential bureau. Sintesi personale I peggiori sono  gli ipocriti e  i benpensanti . Quelli che sono scioccati dalle scene  di Aleppo mentre guardano la televisione e  affermano  che il mondo deve fare qualcosa. Il mondo, ma  non il loro paese. Con urgenza, in questo momento, senza ritardi, ma non il loro paese. La loro coscienza  è così bella, così  superiore e  così morale ai  loro occhi. Sono dopo tutto  non indifferenti agli orrori di Aleppo; essi sono persone di coscienza e di giustizia.  E li fa soffrire così tanto  che non possono dormire la notte alla vista dei bambini morti, pensano alle loro  nonne e ai loro  nonni durante l' Olocausto quando il mondo non agì e come questo non deve accadere di nuovo .
