Volevo solo farmi una doccia, mangiare qualcosa e andare a letto. Rimasi così in macchina fino alle 3 del mattino, solo allora i soldati mi fecero passare. Era un puro abuso, non c'era motivo di far aspettare i residenti del villaggio tutto quel tempo per entrare”.
Questo è ciò che ci ha detto Hayat Hanani (40), madre di tre figli del villaggio di Beit Furik.
Nablus è sotto chiusura da più di due settimane. Una delle più grandi città della Cisgiordania è sostanzialmente bloccata, a parte due stretti sentieri sterrati che portano dentro e fuori che rimangono aperti.
L'esercito sta limitando la circolazione di oltre 200.000 persone, paralizzando la vita nell'area e costringendo centinaia di aziende a smettere di operare, il che danneggia i mezzi di sussistenza di tutti i dipendenti. All I wanted was to have a shower, eat something and go to bed. I stayed like that in the car until 3:00 A.M., and only then did the soldiers let us through. It was pure abuse, there was no reason to make village residents wait all that time to enter.”
This is what Hayat Hanani (40), a mother of three from the village of Beit Furik, told us.
Nablus has been under closure for more than two weeks. One of the largest cities in the West Bank is essentially blockaded, barring two
narrow dirt paths leading in and out that remain open. The military is restricting the movement of more than 200,000 people, paralyzing life in the area and forcing hundreds of businesses to stop operating, which harms the livelihoods of all dependents. Israel has chosen to control the Palestinians living in Nablus, and this entails responsibility for their lives. By imposing this closure, Israel has made it clear it has absolutely no interest in the wellbeing of its Palestinian subjects, including their need to earn a living, get to school, visit friends and simply go about their lives.
2 Demolizione di case
Ieri a Bani Na'im i militari hanno demolito un edificio a due piani in costruzione che doveva ospitare una famiglia di dieci persone, di cui 5 minori. Mentre i residenti si sono radunati nell'area nel tentativo di fermare la demolizione, le forze armate hanno usato fuoco vivo, gas lacrimogeni e granate assordanti e hanno picchiato e arrestato uno dei residenti.
Yesterday in Bani Na’im, the military demolished a two storied building under construction that was meant to house a family of ten, including 5 minors. As residents gathered in the area in an attempt to stop the demolition, the forces used live fire, tear gas and stun grenades and beat and arrest one of the residents.
3 Bambini palestinesi di 10 e 8 anni
Questi sono Ghazi di 10 anni e Hamam Mahamreh di 8 anni, due fratelli di Hebron. I soldati li hanno trattenuti a un posto di blocco e li hanno trattenuti lì per oltre cinque ore. These are 10-year-old Ghazi and 8-year-old Hamam Mahamreh, two brothers from Hebron. Soldiers detained them at a checkpoint and held them there for over five hours. This was not a mistake or a misunderstanding of protocols on part of the soldiers; rather, they were carrying out the policy of Israel’s apartheid regime.
