Lo Stato di Israele aveva 19 anni quando conquistò i territori. Quest'anno ha compiuto 74 anni. L'occupazione e gli insediamenti non sono una tappa intermedia nella sua vita; piuttosto il contrario. Gli anni in cui non era un occupante e non aveva una fiorente impresa di insediamento sono l'eccezione nella sua vita. Questo è il motivo per cui si deve essere d'accordo con la descrizione comune e appropriata di Israele come un gruppo di insediamenti che ha uno stato, non uno stato che ha degli insediamenti.
Quando Yitzhak Rabin, in un'intervista rilasciata nel 1976, descrisse il movimento dei coloni Gush Emunim come un "movimento di insediamento che è come un cancro nel tessuto sociale e democratico di Israele", non fu meno profetico del Prof. Yeshayahu Leibowitz, che ha avvertito che l'occupazione di un'altra nazione avrebbe danneggiato il paese.
Entrambi hanno parlato di un processo di metastasi. Hanno avvertito che ciò che accade nei territori non rimane lì. Si diffonde e infetta altri sistemi.
Così, ad esempio, la malattia progredisce: la scorsa settimana, il consiglio di amministrazione del Jewish National Fund ha approvato lo stanziamento di 61 milioni di shekel (18 milioni di dollari) per l'acquisto di terra palestinese nella Valle del Giordano. Quale interesse relativo alla sicurezza potrebbe giustificare un appello del Ministero della Difesa a un istituto “nazionale” per ottenere aiuto nell'acquisizione di terre palestinesi di proprietà privata?
Inoltre, questa non è un'area che sarà utilizzata dai militari. Non che questo renderebbe tutto questo normativo, ma almeno introdurrebbe una logica in questa follia; per esempio, “guarda, dobbiamo piazzare lì un reattore nucleare; è una posizione ideale, cos'altro possiamo fare? Altrimenti saremo spazzati via". OK, se è così, acquista il terreno. Ma l'intero processo non era destinato a scopi militari, quindi cosa ha fatto sì che il Ministero della Difesa fungesse da intermediario immobiliare?
Questa è una terra palestinese privata che Israele - fai finta di essere sorpreso - ha chiuso con un'ingiunzione militare nel 1969. Negli anni '80 - fai finta di essere sorpreso di nuovo - parte di questa terra è stata data ai coloni, che la stanno usando per coltivare i datteri per l'esportazione .
Nel 2018 alcuni dei suoi proprietari palestinesi hanno presentato una petizione all'Alta Corte di giustizia, chiedendo che l'ingiunzione fosse revocata e che i coloni fossero rimossi. Apparentemente avevano l'impressione che a nessuno servisse per scopo militare.
L'esercito annullerebbe l'ingiunzione e scaccerebbe i coloni che, per 30 anni, hanno vissuto di terreni privati i cui proprietari sono stati rimossi per motivi "legati alla sicurezza" inventati? Non c'è modo. Quindi, il Ministero della Difesa ha deciso di pensare fuori dagli schemi. Si chiede a Moishele del JNF di chiudere le faccende in sospeso del Ministero della Difesa e acquistare la terra dai suoi proprietari palestinesi. Tutto era zitto, ovviamente, coperto da un ordine di bavaglio, dal momento che, dopotutto, Israele è st nel mezzo di un'operazione militare in corso sin dal suo inizio e non si deve parlare perché il nemico non scopra il segreto di Medjool .
Ovviamente si può sempre fare affidamento sul JNF . I suoi membri sono ancora energizzati dalla modalità operativa pre-statale, vivendo il sogno. Non parlare con loro di immobili, non è di loro competenza. Stanno liberando la terra.
Non so a che stadio si trovi questo cancro, ma è chiaro che Israele ha bisogno di diversi tipi di interventi chirurgici: la religione deve essere separata dallo stato e gli insediamenti dall'Israele sovrano. Gli istituti “nazionali” devono essere smantellati uno ad uno senza esitazione, anche l'Agenzia Ebraica e non solo in Russia. Prima è meglio è.
Non siamo noi, è l'occupazione che non desisterà dal corrompere tutto finché non la rimuoveremo.

The State of Israel was 19 years old when it conquered the territories. This year, it turned 74. The occupation and settlements are not a waystation in its life; quite the opposite. The years in which it was not an occupier and did not have a flourishing settlement enterprise are the exception in its lifetime. This is why one must agree with the common and apt description of Israel as a group of settlements that have a state, not a state that has some settlements.

Furthermore, this is not an area that will be used by the military. Not that this would make all this normative, but it would at least introduce some logic into this madness; for example, “look, we have to place a nuclear reactor there; it’s an ideal location, what else can we do? Otherwise, we’ll be wiped out.” OK, if that’s the case, purchase the land. But the whole process was not intended for military purposes, so what made the Defense Ministry serve as a real estate broker?
This is private Palestinian land that Israel – pretend you’re surprised – closed off with a military injunction back in 1969. In the 1980s – pretend you’re surprised again – some of this land was given to settlers, who are using it to this day for growing dates for export.
In 2018, some of its Palestinian owners petitioned the High Court of Justice, demanding that the injunction be rescinded and the settlers removed. They were apparently under the impression that the dates were not serving any military purpose.
Would the army rescind the injunction and kick out settlers who, for 30 years, have been living off private land whose owners were removed for fabricated “security-related” reasons? No way. So, the Defense Ministry decided to think outside the box. And the box, of course, is the state and its restrictive laws. Let’s ask Moishele from the JNF to tie up the Defense Ministry’s loose ends and buy the land from its Palestinian owners. Everything was hush-hush, of course, covered by a gag order, since, after all, Israel has been in the midst of an ongoing military operation since its inception and one mustn’t talk lest the enemy learn the secret of the Medjool dates.
One can obviously always rely on the JNF. Its members are still energized by the pre-state mode of operation, living the dream. Don’t talk to them about real estate, that’s not their purview. They are redeeming the land.

I don’t know what stage this cancer is at, but it’s clear that Israel needs several types of surgery: religion has to be separated from the state and the settlements from sovereign Israel. The “national” institutes have to be dismantled one by one without hesitation, even the Jewish Agency, and not just in Russia. The sooner the better.
It’s not us, it’s the occupation that will not desist from corrupting everything until we remove it.
