Vostro figlio non capisce ciò che il giovane uomo con la macchina
fotografica gli ha risposto, perché dopo tutto, i suoi comandanti non
gli hanno mai insegnato ad ascoltare e capire l'arabo , solo così può emettere ordini.
Quando ha
ordinato ad Ahmed Ziyadah di “tornare a casa” quattro o cinque volte,
non si aspettava che Ziyadah rispondesse: “Sono a casa mia. Cosa ci
fate voi qui?”. Queste sono le terre di casa mia, Kafr Madama. Siamo
usciti con la famiglia per una passeggiata, è venerdì, insieme ad altre
famiglie - uomini, donne e bambini. Avete deciso di cacciarci via con
gas lacrimogeni.
Vostro figlio non si aspettava che questo arabo,
armato solo di una macchina fotografica, lo avrebbe coraggiosamente
avvicinato e dicesse: “Allora sparami; sparami! “. Questa mancanza di
obbedienza ha obbligato vostro figlio - un soldato ebreo orgoglioso - a
rispondere velocemente .
Il video viene tagliato dal momento
in cui vostro figlio armato e i suoi due sottoposti armati hanno
attaccato fisicamente Ziyadah che ingegnosamente è riuscito ad estrarre
la scheda dati dalla fotocamera e a nasconderla. Ora l'eroismo di vostro
figlio è conservato su un video clip incluso nel film di B'Tselem che sarà mostrato
martedì al Festival della Solidarietà 2017. Centinaia di
coraggiosi volontari di B'Tselem, tra i quali Ziyadah , hanno
documentato ciò che vostro figlio e migliaia di altri figli fanno
durante il servizio militare : abusare e brutalizzare.
Dice
Ziyadah: “Uno dei soldati ha premuto duramente sulla mia testa con
il ginocchio. Un altro soldato ha messo il suo ginocchio sulla mia
schiena, il terzo ha fatto un passo sulle mie gambe con i piedi. Ogni
volta che cercavo di sollevare la testa i soldati premevano violentemente sulla mia testa, mentre un altro soldato serrava le manette su di me
sempre di più. Ho pianto di dolore.”
Ma non finisce qui.
Qualche settimana fa, quando mi è capitato di essere nella zona di
Nablus, una sera ho colto l'occasione per rispondere a una richiesta
dal fratello di Ahmed, Mahmoud di venire ad ascoltare la sua storia.
Sapevo che un soldato aveva sparato a Mahmoud con un proiettile
rivestito di gomma e lo aveva gravemente ferito a una gamba a
distanza ravvicinata, in violazione delle norme.
E chi è stato punito?
Mahmoud, naturalmente. Il servizio di sicurezza Shin Bet si è affrettato
a cancellare il suo permesso di lavoro per Israele per motivi di sicurezza”.
Solo durante la
conversazione nella loro casa mi sono resa conto che i soldati che
avevano attaccato Ahmed ,erano anche responsabili del suo falso arresto e
di sei giorni interi di abusi e torture da parte di altri soldati.
Mentre Mahmoud era in cura in ospedale, la
famiglia temeva per la vita di Ahmed in stato di detenzione.
Mahmoud ha visto i soldati
ferire suo fratello, che era a terra, e ha gridato in ebraico, “Questo è
mio fratello!”. Un altro soldato ( altri si erano uniti ai tre nel
frattempo) ha spinto Mahmoud indietro. Mahmoud ha fatto un passo
indietro, mentre suo fratello gemeva per il dolore sotto gli
stivali dei nostri soldati. Mahmoud dice: “Sono andato un po 'più vicino
ancora una volta, il soldato mi ha detto di andarmene, ho alzato le
mani (come in segno di resa), il soldato mi ha spinto ancora una volta,
ha puntato il fucile al mio stomaco e poi alla mia gamba sinistra e ha
sparato. Sono svenuto e mi sono svegliato in ospedale “.
I
soldati sanno che non c'è alcun rischio per loro di essere indagati
o condannati e hanno alimentato il portavoce dell'IDF con le loro
invenzioni.
“Il 10 febbraio 2017, un certo numero di palestinesi è
stato visto avvicinarsi alla comunità di Yitzhar [una distanza di 1,5
chilometri dall'insediamento che sconfina nella terra di
queste persone]. I palestinesi , giunti nel sito, non avevano coordinato questo con l' amministrazione
di coordinamento e di collegamento ( ma da quale momento i rivoltosi di Yitzhar hanno preso il controllo
dello Stato Maggiore?]
Di conseguenza, data la sensibile
situazione [cioè, la violenza provata dei
coloni di Yitzhar], i soldati dell'IDF sono stati inviati al sito per
impedire loro di avvicinarsi alla comunità. I soldati hanno chiesto ai
palestinesi più volte di lasciare la zona per circa 40 minuti. I
palestinesi non hanno soddisfatto la richiesta dei soldati, e uno di
loro, Ahmed Ziyadah, ha anche attaccato l'ufficiale che appare nel video
[Rambo stava attaccando. Non c'è limite alle bugie?] . In seguito a
questo, i soldati hanno arrestato Ziyadah . I soldati hanno sparato un proiettile di gomma
alla parte inferiore del corpo di un altro palestinese, presente alla

Your son didn’t understand what the young man with the camera answered him, because after all, his commanders never taught him ugly IDF Arabic so he could listen and understand, only so he could issue orders.
When he ordered Ahmed Ziyadah to “go home” four or five times, he wasn’t expecting Ziyadah to respond, “I’m in my home. What are you doing here?” These are the lands of my home, Kafr Madama. We came out with the family for a hike, it’s Friday, with other families – men, women and children. You decided to chase us away with tear gas.

The video is cut off from the moment your armed son and his two armed subordinates physically attacked Ziyadah, who resourcefully managed to extract the data card from the camera and conceal it. Now your son’s heroism is preserved on a video clip that’s included in a film marking a decade of B’tselem’s camera project, to be shown Tuesday as part of the Solidarity Festival 2017. Hundreds of brave and just B’tselem volunteers, Ziyadah among them, have documented what your son and thousands of other sons do during their military service – abuse and brutalize.
Says Ziyadah: “One of the soldiers pressed down hard on my head with his knee. Another soldier put his knee on my back, and the third stepped on my legs with his feet. Every time I tried to lift my head, the soldiers pressed hard on my head, while another soldier tightened the handcuffs on me more and more. I cried out in pain.”
But it doesn’t end there.

A few weeks ago, when I happened to be in the Nablus area one evening, I took the opportunity to respond to a request by Ahmed’s brother, Mahmoud, to come and hear his story. I knew that a soldier had shot Mahmoud with a rubber-coated bullet and seriously wounded him in the leg – fire at close range, in violation of regulations. And who was punished? Mahmoud, of course. The Shin Bet security service hastened to cancel his work permit for Israel. (The Shin Bet said, “Because of Mr. Ziyadah’s involvement in the incident described in your query, it was decided to prevent his entrance into Israel for now for security reasons.”)
Only during the conversation in their home did I realize that the soldiers who had attacked Ahmed were also responsible for his false arrest and six whole days of abuse and torture by other soldiers. During his detention he thought that his brother had been killed because of him. Meanwhile, while Mahmoud was being treated in the hospital, the family feared for the life of Ahmed in detention. That in itself is worth 1,000 words, but that would be too much both for the space in the newspaper and the patience of the readers.
'I raised my hands in surrender'
Mahmoud was one of the village youths who hurried to the site of the assault when they heard about it. He saw the soldiers hurting his brother, who was on the ground, and yelled in Hebrew, “That’s my brother!” Another soldier (others had joined the three in the interim) pushed Mahmoud back. Mahmoud stepped back, but his brother Ahmed was still groaning in pain under our soldiers’ boots. Mahmoud says, “I went a little closer again, the soldier told me to leave, I raised my hands (as in surrender), the soldier pushed me again, pointed his rifle at my stomach and then at my left leg, and fired. I fainted and woke up in the hospital.”
The soldiers, who know that there’s no risk of their being investigated or punished, fed the IDF Spokesman their fabrications.
“On February 10, 2017, a number of Palestinians were seen approaching the community of Yitzhar [a distance of 1.5 kilometers from the settlement, which serially encroaches on these peoples’ land with their outposts – A.H.]. The Palestinians who came to the site hadn’t coordinated this with the relevant coordination and liaison administration, as is customary when approaching an area near the community [Coordination? There? Since when? Since the rioters of Yitzhar seized control of the General Staff?]
“As a result, given the sensitive security situation in the district [i.e., the proven violence of the Yitzhar settlers], IDF soldiers were sent to the site to prevent them from approaching the community. The soldiers asked the Palestinians repeatedly to leave the area for around 40 minutes. The Palestinians did not fulfill the soldiers’ request, and one of them, Ahmed Ziyadah, even attacked the officer who appears in the video [Rambo was attacking. Is there no limit to the lies?] Following this, the soldiers arrested Ziyadah and he was transferred to the police to handle. The soldiers fired a rubber bullet at the lower body of another Palestinian present at the scene, who tried to attack the soldiers.” [Poor soldiers.
