Ho preso in parola la Conferenza dei presidenti delle maggiori organizzazioni ebraiche americane e il gruppo di pressione StandWithUs Israel, ora vedo che mi sbagliavoPensavo che la loro preoccupazioni principale fose la sicurezza e il benessere dello stato di Israele e la forza e il benessere della comunità ebraica americana.Si scopre, però, che in questi giorni, le loro risorse e l'attenzione sono stati spese per qualcosa d'altro, qualcosa che è apparentemente più importante e urgente da  affrontare:Boicottare gli ebrei, definendo come possono e non possono amare Israele. Boicottare cioè  gli ebrei che, a loro parere, amano  Israele nel modo sbagliato soprattutto se il loro   messaggio trova un eco sempre maggiore   tra i giovani   come :J Street. Il nuovo Fondo di Israele , un gran numero di leader di comunità e individui non affiliati che si vedono come pro-Israele e pro-pace, anti-insediamento, indipendenza pro-palestinese a fianco di Israele, pro-diritti delle minoranze all'interno di Israele, pro-donne diritti all'interno di Israele, pro-democrazia . Tali obiettivi trovano ampia adesione anche in IsraeleLa Coalizione ha un messaggio per tutte queste persone il cui amore per Israele è riuscito a sopravvivere agli sforzi del governo di Israele, di StandWithUs  e della  destra di  avvocati  israeliani che hanno l'obiettivo di far tacere l'esternoChe cosa è questo "amore" per Israele da parte  dei  gruppi pro-pace che spesso mettono in discussione le politiche israeliane?ha chiesto Michael Dickson questa settimana in un pezzo OpEd. :"E' come  l'amore per una moglie  maltrattata. 'Ti amo', dichiara il marito  mentre la colpisce . 'Ti amo',mentre la spinge giù per le scale."La scorsa settimana  la Coalizione è riuscita nel suo intento di boicottare gli ebrei. Vilmente , a porte chiuse, a scrutinio segreto,  ha rifiutato  J Street .Ore prima della votazione il  leader StandWithUs  ha pubblicato un articolo dal titolo:   "You can't love Israel by white-washing the Palestinians."No, StandWithUs  intima: devi  amare  la  crescita degli insediamentti  e la  corrosiva , meccanica suicida dell'  occupazione.Devi amare l' Israele   che causa il  dolore palestinese. Mi sbagliavo. Ho sbagliato a dare StandWithUs e ad altri gruppi di destra il beneficio del dubbio che viene fornito con il termine "advocacy".Proprio come sforzo negativo , per non dire anti-ebraico, i leader della organizzazione della destra manipolativa "Americans for Peace and Tolerance:" hanno scritto :"The J Street nose in the Jewish tent."Ho capito. Il mondo sarebbe meglio se questi ebrei pacifisti non ci  fossero : Queste organizzazioni pretendono di  avere il diritto esclusivo di parlare a nome di tutti gli ebrei ,ma ci sono  molti giovani e intelligenti  che vedono  l' antipatia, l elitarismo  della destra che allontana  le loro opinioni oneste.Si può biasimare J Street, se ti piace r Birthright., Or assimilation or Obama or Reform or Renewal rabbis. È possibile definirla sbagliata o ingenua o collaborazionista o kapò o  utilizzare qualsiasi nome che ti piaccia,ma non mandandoli  via.Ain't love a bitch. 

 

When Jews hate leftists for loving Israel

I was wrong about the Conference of Presidents and StandWithUs. I thought their main goal was defending Israel. Turns out, there's a more pressing matter for them to address: Boycotting Jews.

When it comes to the Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations, and the StandWithUs Israel advocacy group, I now see that I was wrong.
I took them at their word, that their foremost concerns were the security and well-being of the state of Israel, and the strength and well-being of the American Jewish community.
It turns out, though, that these days, their resources and attention are being spent on something else, something which is apparently more important and pressing a matter for them to address:
Boycotting Jews. And dictating just how Jews can and cannot love Israel.
Boycotting, that is, Jews who, in their view, love Israel the wrong way. Most alarming of all, Jews whose message resonates with growing numbers of young people:
J Street.
And not only J Street. The New Israel Fund and other groups, and large numbers of community leaders and unaffiliated individuals who see themselves as pro-Israel and pro-peace, anti-settlement, pro-Palestinian independence alongside Israel, pro-minority rights within Israel, pro-women's rights within Israel, pro-increased democracy within Israel.
The Boycott Jews Coalition has a message for all of these people whose love for Israel has managed to survive the best efforts of Israel's government, StandWithUs, and other right-wing professional Israel advocates, to kill it off:
"How dare you love Israel the way you do?"
What is this "love" of Israel by pro-Israel, pro-peace groups, who frequently question Israeli policies? asked StandWithUs Israel Director Michael Dickson this week in an  OpEd piece.His answer:
"If anything, it’s like the love of a wife-beater: 'I love you,' he says as he hits his wife; 'I love you' he says as he pushes her down the stairs."
Last week, the Boycott Jews Coalition notched its crowning achievement - the Conference's cowardly, closed-door, secret-ballot vote to reject J Street as a American Major Jewish Organization.
Hours before the Conference vote, StandWithUs leaders in America published an article titled:  "You can't love Israel by white-washing the Palestinians."
No, StandWithUs is indicating: You have to love Israel by white-washing settlement growth and the corrosive, suicidal mechanics of occupation.
You have to love Israel by white-washing Palestinian pain. You have to love Israel by putting up and shutting up.
I was wrong. I was wrong to think that the Conference of Presidents groups who rejected J Street while hiding under the cloak of invisibility, actually owe their constituents, transparency, accountability, and honesty.
I was wrong. I was wrong to give StandWithUs and other right-wing groups the benefit of the doubt that comes with the term "advocacy."
Just how effortlessly negative – not to say anti-Jewish - a force they can be, can be seen in the headline of a Monday article by leaders of the manipulatively named right-wing "Americans for Peace and Tolerance:"  "The J Street nose in the Jewish tent."
I get it, finally. I get the message that the Boycott Jews Coalition is sending. It took a raft of unprintable hate mail over Soldiers' Memorial Day and Israel Independence Day to drive their point home:
I get it. Your world would be better off if these dovish Jews weren't in it.
And not only because you want the exclusive right to speak in the name of the rest of us.
But here's the thing about those Jews you so dislike: They're not going anywhere. In fact, there are more of them than there used to be, not less. And many of the new ones are young and smart, and see right through your message, and your dislike, and your elitism and your dismissal of them and their honest opinions.
You can blame J Street, if you like, or Birthright. Or assimilation or Obama or Reform or Renewal rabbis. You can call them misguided or naïve or ill-willed or quisling or kapo or any name you like. But they're not going away.
Ain't love a bitch.
