Centinaia di attivisti – palestinesi e israeliani – hanno marciato insieme oggi nelle colline a sud di Hebron, chiedendo di fornire acqua alle comunità palestinesi a cui è vietato allacciarsi alla rete idrica e in solidarietà con la comunità attaccata all'inizio di questa settimana dai coloni.

Nonostante le orribili violenze subite nel portare un serbatoio d'acqua alla comunità di Hamamade nelle colline a sud di Hebron due settimane fa, ci riproviamo stamattina! Contesto: Israele non consente alla comunità di Hamamade di allacciarsi a una rete idrica e consente loro di ricevere acqua nelle cisterne solo il martedì, il mercoledì e il giovedì. I membri di questa comunità sono persone bioniche, che non hanno bisogno di acqua la domenica, il lunedì, il venerdì e il sabato? Queste persone non hanno bisogno di bere in quei giorni? Cucinare? Fare la doccia? Pulire le loro case? Fornire acqua al loro bestiame? Usare il bagno? Il governo di Israele, nella sua divina saggezza, potrebbe conoscere la risposta.
Un promemoria: sebbene Israele sia il sovrano in Cisgiordania, ed è obbligato a provvedere a tutti i bisogni di coloro che vivono sotto il suo controllo e sotto la sua occupazione, di fatto ci sono due categorie di persone che vivono nei territori: Coloro che hanno diritti : Israeliani Ebrei e quelli che non li hanno: Palestinesi.
Quando si tratta di acqua, senza la quale non esiste la vita umana, la disparità tra israeliani e palestinesi è flagrante: mentre ogni nuovo insediamento ebraico - costruito con o senza permesso - è immediatamente collegato alla rete idrica israeliana, molti villaggi palestinesi, che esistono da decine e persino da centinaia di anni ,non sono collegati all'acqua corrente.
Queste comunità sono costrette ad acquistare acqua a caro prezzo in cisterne e a trasportarla su strade non asfaltate e in condizioni igieniche scadenti. Anche quando c'è una connessione alla rete, l'approvvigionamento idrico è spesso limitato e non continuativo .

Hundreds of activists – Palestinians and Israelis – marched together today in the south Hebron hills, demanding to deliver water to Palestinian communities that are banned from connecting to the water grid, and in solidarity with the community that was attacked earlier this week by settlers.
The march ended without incident. A large number of Israeli soldiers were stationed on the nearby hill, but held off. The march ended at the Mfakara village and turned back, in order to avoid further violence. The march was accompanied by Knesset members מוסי רז Mossi Raz موسي راز and עופר כסיף Ofer Cassif عوفر كسيف

The organizers said following the march: “We thank the hundreds of people that came out this Saturday morning to say ‘stop the dry-out’, ‘stop the violence’ and ‘stop the occupation’. We proved today that there is a major joint force for good that is eager to counter the army and settler violence, and build a new peaceful life here together”.

Following the horrific violence at our activity to bring a water tank to the Hamamade community in the south Hebron hills two weeks ago, we're trying again this morning! This time, we're joined by our friends from Breaking the Silence PEACE NOW Standing Together, the Jordan Valey Coalition, All That's Left: Anti-Occupation Collective and Mothers Against Police Violence, as well as Knesset members and media, with hope that this time there is no violence and that the water can reach those who need it! 9:00 AM update: Activists are on the busses on the way to the south Hebron hills, and preparing in the field
Background: Israel does not allow the Hamamade community to join a water grid, and allows them to receive water in water-tanks only on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. Are the members of this community bionic people, who don’t need water on Sundays, Mondays, Fridays and Saturdays? Do these people not need to drink on those days? To cook? To Shower? To clean their homes? To provide water to their livestock? To use the bathroom? The government of Israel, in its divine wisdom, might know the answer.
A reminder: Although Israel is the sovereign in the West Bank, and is obligated to provide all the needs of those living under its control and occupation, de-facto there are two categories of people living in the territories: Those who have rights - Israeli Jews, and those who don’t - Palestinians.
When it comes to water, without which there is no human existence, the disparity between Israelis and Palestinians is flagrant: while every new Jewish Settlement - whether built with or without permission - is immediately connected to the Israeli water grid, many Palestinian villages which have existed for tens and even hundreds of years are not connected to running water. These communities are forced to purchase overpriced water in tanks, and transport them on unpaved roads and in substandard sanitary conditions. Even when there is a grid connection, water supply is often limited and fickle.
We call on the government of Israel to put an end to the abuse and the drying out of Palestinians. Join us, help us share this message
